Caveat about Dream Books and Dream "Dictionaries"

About the world of dream book publishing and dream dictionaries.... Unfortunately, a great deal of misleading and just plain erroneous stuff is published in the field of "dream analysis." At the top of the list are the "drugstore dream dictionaries" that claim to give the one true meaning for each dream image in an alphabetical list. However, even these silly dictionaries can be useful if the reader remembers that the only reliable touchstone to identify the pure gold of accurate understanding is the aha of recognition of the dreamer him/herself. If the reader can hang on to that basic truth, then even the most ridiculous and doctrinaire dream dictionary can occasionally stimulate a useful and exciting aha.
